Just a few years after a Manchester United legend was rescued from a suicide boxing career, another club legend has decided to kill himself in the MMA octagon. In 2018, Manchester United Legend Rio Ferdinand was denied a boxing license by the British Boxing Board of Control (BBBoC) due to his decision to pursue a boxing career after his football retirement. Before then, Ferdinand had confessed to having mental health issues and being suicidal following the loss of his wife Rebecca to cancer in 2015. It is generally suspected that the BBBoC rejected Ferdinand’s application for a boxing license in order to save him from being killed in the ring.

Now we hear that another United legend, Patrice Evra, who is 43, will be making his Mixed Martial Arts debut in Paris on Friday, May 23. PFL CEO Peter Murray confirmed to newsmen that Patrice Evra would be stepping into the MMA octagon against a yet to be named opponent at the Accor Arena in Paris, as he opens his MMA account.

Evra, who retired from football in 2018, after a brief stint with West Ham United, won nearly every title while in the colors of United. According to information, he has been training to be a boxer since 2016 and was originally set to face off with You Tuber Adam Saleh in 2022, in a boxing bout, before the fight was cancelled The failed boxer has now turned his attention to MMA, where the rules are supposedly more relaxed.

Many people believe that the well decorated Patrice Evra may be on a suicide mission when he steps into the octagon on May 23 to trade blows, kicks, headbutts, chokeholds, and takedowns with a professional MMA opponent. Kjnnetwork.com reports that while Patrice Evra has promised to put on a show on the above date, football lovers and Manchester United fans in particular are hoping that the bout will not end in Evra’s funeral.

As we wait and hope that Patrice Evra would be dissuaded from this suicide mission, we keep our fingers crossed and hope he lives to fight another day.
